Allis State Park was established in 1928 as Vermont's second developed state park, named for Wallace Allis, who willed his Bear Mountain Farm to the state. It sits on the summit of Bear Hill with sweeping views from a fire tower that visitors can climb, taking in the Green Mountains and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The Civilian Conservation Corps developed the park starting in 1932. It has 18 tent and RV sites and 8 lean-tos, the family-friendly Bear Hill Nature Trail, a picnic field and a rentable pavilion. Season runs from the Friday of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
