Boiler Bay is a rugged, basalt-rimmed bay and a great place to watch wild surf on the rocky spurs. The panoramic viewpoint offers a good chance to see gray whales year round. It is one of the best sites in Oregon to see ocean birds such as shearwaters, jaegers, albatrosses, grebes, pelicans, loons, oystercatchers and murrelets, so bring binoculars. In 1910 an explosion sank the J. Marhoffer, and its boiler can be seen at low tide.
