Rosebud Battlefield State Park is a 3,052-acre National Historic Landmark at 4,300 feet on the rolling prairie of eastern Montana. It preserves the site of the June 17, 1876 battle, which took place eight days before Little Bighorn. Mowed walking paths lead to Kobold Buffalo Jump and Crook's Hill, and interpretive displays explain the battle. Visitors can hike, photograph, watch wildlife, picnic, hunt, snowshoe, and cross-country ski. Vault toilets and picnic tables are available. The park is day-use only. Camping is available at Tongue River Reservoir State Park, about 13 miles south. The park marked the battle's 150th anniversary in June 2026 with tribal ceremonies and continuing interpretive programming.
