Farny State Park is a forested wilderness of streams, mixed oak hardwood forest and swamps, crossed by an old logging road and adjacent to Split Rock Reservoir. Trail entry is through the 589-acre Farny Natural Area. Tall red, white and black oaks form a mature canopy that provides habitat for the endangered red-shouldered hawk and the threatened barred owl. The park is open from sunrise to sunset and is managed from Ringwood.
