Tower Rock State Park protects a 424-foot igneous rock formation that was a landmark for Native American tribes for centuries. Captain Meriwether Lewis documented it during the 1805 Corps of Discovery expedition, calling it "the tower." A quarter-mile maintained trail leads to the base of the saddle, and five interpretive panels at the trailhead tell the story of the site. The 140-acre park is good for hiking, photography, picnicking, and exploring Lewis and Clark history. Vault toilets and parking are provided, and pets are allowed. Tower Rock is day-use only and open year-round with seasonal amenities. It is managed under First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park.
