Cherokee Landing State Park sits on a peninsula in the Cookson Hills just south of Tahlequah, at the north end of Lake Tenkiller. Though small, its peninsular location promises some of the best camping on the lake. Guests can hike the Red Fox trail or stroll the grounds for views, spring wildflowers, good birding and migratory cranes. The park has an outdoor volleyball court and a nine-hole disc golf course. The south end of the park can flood during high water, and the park office is staffed by a volunteer Wednesday through Saturday from 9am to 2pm.
