Independence Dam State Park lies along the banks of the Maumee State Scenic River, which is ideal for boating, fishing and paddling. Remnants of Ohio's canal era are visible along seven miles of the historic canal that runs between County Road 424 and the park. The park offers seasonal, primitive riverside campsites and shady picnic areas, a simple setting for a quiet overnight or a day by the water.
