Hiwassee Scenic River State Park is a natural wonder with plenty of recreation. In 1968, a 23-mile section of the Hiwassee River became the first managed river in the Tennessee State Scenic River Program. The river is a Class III, partially developed river, which makes it an intermediate paddling and rafting destination. The park is known for rafting, canoeing, kayaking, birding and fishing, and a campground is available. It was split from the former Hiwassee/Ocoee River State Park in 2025.
