Agate Beach is a roadside beach access on the central Oregon coast in Newport, tucked between the new and old alignments of Highway 101. Razor clamming and surfing are favorite activities, and the site makes an easy picnic stop on a trip to the Oregon Coast Aquarium or Hatfield Marine Science Center. A large parking lot has room for trailers. A beach access trail passes through a tunnel under the old highway and opens onto a broad sandy beach. Visitors should check tides and surf conditions before heading onto the sand.
