Pasagshak River State Recreation Site near Kodiak is a riverside campground close to Pasagshak Bay, on the southeast side of Kodiak Island. Green hills, open coast and clear water give the area a quiet, rugged beauty. The river is known for excellent steelhead and salmon fishing, and the surrounding area offers good beachcombing and wildlife watching. The campground is a comfortable base for anglers and anyone who enjoys the wild feel of the island's road system. Camping is $20 per site. Bring supplies, since services are limited, and be aware of bears in the area.
