About this park

Catalina State Park near Tucson lies at the foot of the Santa Catalina Mountains, with saguaro-covered foothills, deep canyons and views that stretch toward the peaks. It is one of the best places near the city to experience the Sonoran Desert. Trails lead from the park into the Coronado National Forest, including popular routes into canyons and to seasonal pools. The park has 120 campsites, making it a good base for hikers, birdwatchers and horseback riders. Wildlife is abundant, and spring wildflowers add color after wet winters. Entry is $10 per vehicle with one person, $20 per vehicle with two to four people, and $5 for individuals or bikes, with camping at $25 to $50 per night. Hike early in summer to avoid the heat.
