Joe Wheeler State Park near Rogersville is a resort-style park on the shores of Wheeler Lake along the Tennessee River in north Alabama. The mix of water, woods and open space makes it a popular destination for family vacations and weekend trips. Visitors can stay at the lodge, take out a boat from the marina, play a round of golf or hike the trails that climb the wooded hills. The lake offers excellent fishing, and there are plenty of places to swim, picnic and relax. Admission is $5 for adults 12 and older, $2 for children 4 to 11 and seniors 62 and older, and free for children under 4. It is well suited for anyone who wants a full-service outdoor getaway.
