Chilkat State Park in Haines occupies a forested peninsula between the Chilkat and Chilkoot inlets, with views of nearby glaciers and mountains. The park's location gives it a dramatic, wild character along Alaska's Inside Passage. Visitors can camp under tall spruce trees, walk trails to viewpoints, and see Davidson Glacier across the water. A boat launch offers access to the inlet for fishing and paddling, and wildlife such as eagles, whales and seals is often seen in the area. Parking is $5, and camping is $20 per site. Fog and rain are common, so pack layers and rain gear.
