Kachemak Bay State Wilderness Park is the wild core of the Kachemak Bay park system, protecting rugged interior fjords, glacial lakes and backcountry trails. The landscape is remote and largely undeveloped, offering a true wilderness experience. Visitors travel by boat or floatplane and explore on foot or by kayak, camping along the shoreline or in the backcountry. The scenery is spectacular, with glaciers, sea cliffs and forested valleys, and wildlife is abundant on land and in the water. Parking is $5 per day, camping runs $20 to $25 per site, and boat launch fees range from $10 to $25. Come prepared with proper gear, navigation and bear safety knowledge.
