About this park

Shuyak Island State Park at the northern tip of the Kodiak Archipelago is a remote island wilderness of old-growth spruce forest, sheltered bays and rocky coastline. It is one of the most pristine coastal areas in Alaska. The park is a paradise for sea kayakers, with protected waterways and campsites along the shore. Wildlife is abundant, including brown bears, sea otters, whales and many seabirds, and the quiet, wild setting gives visitors a true sense of remoteness. Access is by boat or floatplane, and camping is $20 per site. Come prepared for self-sufficient travel and bear safety.
