About this park

Buck's Pocket State Park near Grove Oak is a remote and rugged park on the rim of a canyon about 1,000 feet deep above Town Creek. Set on the edge of Sand Mountain, it offers some of the most dramatic scenery in northeast Alabama. Overlooks provide sweeping views into the canyon, and hiking trails wander through the surrounding forest. Primitive camping gives visitors a chance to slow down and enjoy the quiet, and the area is especially beautiful in fall when the leaves change. Admission is $5 for adults 12 and older, $2 for children 4 to 11 and seniors 62 and older, and free for children under 4. Bring what you need, since services nearby are limited.
